The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the world’s oldest, most prestigious, and largest programming competition for computer science students. Each year, the contest brings together over 60,000 participants from more than 3,000 universities across 110 countries. The winning teams from each regional contest earn the opportunity to compete in the ICPC World Finals.
In Afghanistan, the ICPC Regional Programming Contest is held annually and proudly hosted by Kateb University. This year, Kateb University had the honor of hosting the Eighth Regional Round of the competition. A total of 67 teams from various public and private universities across the country participated. The contest commenced on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 8:30 AM and concluded at 1:30 PM.
The judging process was supervised by representatives from Kabul University, Kabul Polytechnic University, Kabul Education University, Kateb University, Gharjistan University, Zawul University, Avicenna University, and Orhan Software Engineering Company, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the event.
After five hours of intense problem-solving and teamwork, the final standings were announced as follows:
The first-place team, “Enigma,” from Kateb university has been granted the honor of representing Afghanistan at the ICPC World Final Competition 2026.
This kind of competition is a celebration of innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration among Afghanistan’s brightest young programmers. Kateb University once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting academic excellence, fostering technological talent, and supporting the next generation of computer scientists and engineers.
