Kateb Legal Clinic had a trip to Gharjistan University – Herat.

In order to advance their programs and get acquainted with the legal clinics of Ghalib University and the judicial institutions of Herat, Kateb Legal Clinic had a four-day trip to this city from February 15 to 18, 2020.

Members of Kateb Legal Clinic visited Ghalib University the esteemed chancellor of this university, Dr. Rahyab, explained the activities and structure of the dominant legal clinic. At the end of the meeting, members of the law clinic and students visited different sections of the dominant university.

In the continuation, the Independent Bar Association of Herat was visited, which was accompanied by a very warm and welcomed from the esteemed president of the association. The Chair of the Independent Bar Association, Mr. Naderi, provided the visitors with full details of the Association’s record and gave a detailed description of its effective role in the development of judicial justice in the city of Herat, which was instructive and amazing for the audience.

In coordination with the Chair of the Association and the leadership of the Legal Clinic of Ghalib University, the visitors also visited the Herat Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of Appeals, which were accompanied by with the cheerfulness of members of the respected institutes. The Courts of Appeal, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Bar Association explained the activities of these institutions and the level of judicial access in Herat province.

Following this trip, the members of the clinic participated in a scientific seminar organized by Ghalib University with the participation of Kateb University and Herat University, entitled “Criminal Liability of Individuals in the Penal Code of Afghanistan”. In this seminar, four topics: criminal liability resulting from the termination of commercial negotiations, criminal liability of legal persons, criminal liability of children and criminal liability resulting from white signatures were discussed and analyzed. At the end of the seminar, the students of Kateb Legal Clinic and other participants asked questions to the panel members.

On the evening of February 18, the team of the Legal Clinic of Kateb University returned to Kabul with remarkable scientific-cultural achievements.
