Seminar on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” was held on June,30 at Kateb University‘s Barchi branch conference hall. The event which was organized by Research Center for Economic & Management Sciences, presented by Wali Farhat, Kateb’s Strategic Communication Adviser.
Mr.Farhat explained background of SDG and elaborated 17 goals of sustainable development. In addition, participants were oriented on how SDGs can address challenges facing the world and particularly Afghanistan.
According to UN “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 for the year 2030. The SDGs are part of Resolution 70/1 of the United Nations General Assembly, the 2030 Agenda”. “The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each Goal and target by 2030.”
